This powerfully simple hymn tune appears in a handwritten instrumental part book in the museum in Old Economy Village, PA. The image for my arrangement is J.C. Mueller sitting at a piano teaching the melody to a choir. The hymn appears in Harmonisches Gesangbuch (1820), “Edle Tugend dich kann nichts zertrümmern,” the musical origins are unknown.
